Turbocharger: Service and Repair

REMOVING
- Remove air filter completely
- Remove battery
- Remove right-hand heat shield for powertrain/transmission mount
- Remove engine cover from underneath
- Remove alternator





- Remove exhaust pipe (1) from turbocharger, and bracket on transmission
- Disconnect oil feed line (2) from turbocharger
- Loosen lower hose clamp (3) on intake manifold connection





- Remove oil return line (1) completely
- Remove air hose (2)
- Remove 4 mounting nuts between turbocharger and exhaust manifold (3) (loosen both rear nuts from above)
- Lift out turbocharger from below

TURBOCHARGER INSTALLING
- Install in the reverse order of removal
- Mount turbocharger and tighten 4 mounting nuts on exhaust manifold just enough so that air hose between intake manifold and turbocharger can be pushed on
- Torque mounting nuts to spec
- Specification 60 Nm (44 ft lb)
- Prior to mounting oil feed line, fill connection on turbocharger with engine oil
- After installing turbocharger, allow lubrication to circulate: idle engine for at least 1 minute before accelerating
