Injection Pump Delivery
Requirements:- drive belt tension OK
- cold start acceleration cable must not be withdrawn
- set engine to TDC on cyl. 1
ENGINE REMOVED
- adjust gauge to 125.5mm (4.94 in.) (white arrow)
NOTE: Reference point is left notch in the vernier.
- mount gauge as shown
- turn crankshaft until TDC marking on flywheel aligns with edge of gauge (black arrow) and marking on injection pump sprocket aligns with mounting bracket
ENGINE INSTALLED
- slacken tension on cable for cold start accelerator by loosening screw (1) on the bracket, then turn bracket 90°
NOTE: Screw (2) must NOT be loosened.
- remove sealing screw on injection pump lever
- connect adaptor and small dial gauge (measuring range zero to 3.0mm) (0 - 0.118 in) with approximately 2.5mm (0.099 in) pre-tension in place of the sealing screw
NOTE: Always replace the sealing screw gasket. Tightening torque is 15 Nm (11 ft lb). If there is leaking, re-tighten to a maximum of 25 Nm (18 ft lb).
- slowly turn crankshaft (opposite to engine rotation) until dial gauge no longer moves
- adjust dial gauge with approximately 1mm (0.0394 in) pretension to zero
- turn crankshaft (in direction of engine rotation) until TDC marking on flywheel aligns with reference mark
- read delivery rate on dial gauge
- check value: 0.81 - 0.95mm stroke (0.032 - 0.037 in)
- adjusting value: 0.88 ± 0.02mm stroke (0.034 ± 0.0007 in)
NOTE: If the check value lies within the specified tolerance, then a new adjustment is not necessary.
- mis-adjustment can be corrected by loosening the mounting screws on the mounting bracket support and then turning the injection pump
- turn clamp on cable for cold start accelerator, back 90° (tensioning) and tighten screw
- tighten mounting bolts for injection pump to 25 Nm (18 ft lb)
