Fuel/Water Separator: Service and Repair

1. Disconnect the battery ground terminal.
2. On vehicles equipped with a bleed screw loosen the bleed screw. On vehicles without a bleed screw disconnect the fuel return line.
3. Place a container under the filter and open the water drain plug. Allow all of the water to drain from the filter. If no water is present, allow about 1/2 cup of fuel to drain from fuel filter.
4. Tighten the drain plug and close the vent screw, if equipped, or reconnect the return hose.
5. Reconnect the battery ground terminal and start the engine. Check for fuel leaks and run the engine until all air has been expelled from the fuel system. If necessary, prime the fuel system.
