Teves Single Piston W/Dual Mounting Bolts
Teves Rear Brake Caliper:
1. Place wooden block between caliper piston and caliper housing, then apply compressed air to brake line bore to force piston from housing, then turn piston to disengage thread.
Rear Caliper:
2. Remove piston seal from caliper piston bore using a plastic rod.
NOTE: If either piston or bore in brake caliper are corroded, pitted, or scored, affected part must be replaced.
Caliper Piston With Dust Boot:
3. Slide dust boot onto piston, then lubricate piston and caliper piston bore lightly with a suitable brake cylinder paste.
4. Install piston seal into caliper bore, then lubricate with clean brake fluid.
Rear Caliper With Self Adjusting Mechanism:
5. Reset self adjusting mechanism by pressing into housing through threaded hole with a screwdriver.
Rear Caliper With Piston:
6. Insert lip of dust boot into groove in cylinder, then turn piston to engage thread.
7. Using a suitable pressing tool, center tool on piston and carefully push piston in to stop. Lip of dust boot must slip into groove in piston.
8. Position caliper with bleeder screw facing upward, then connect bleeder hose and open bleeder screw. Fill caliper with clean brake fluid through bleeder screw, then close bleeder valve.
9. After installing caliper on vehicle, bleed brake system before road testing.
NOTE:
Beginning with VIN JN 039 013 a new rear brake caliper was being phased into production. The piston diameter of the new caliper is 38.0 mm. The earlier caliper piston dimension is 36.0 mm.
38 MM Rear Caliper:
The new caliper has a raised number "38" on the housing, earlier calipers have "36".
