Audio And HVAC Switch Panel Button Illumination Does Not Work (Without Navigation)




Audio System Symptom Troubleshooting - Audio and HVAC switch panel button illumination does not work

Audio and HVAC switch panel button illumination does not work (without navigation)

NOTE:

- Check the vehicle battery condition first Battery Test.
- Check the connectors for poor connections or loose terminals.

1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), or press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode.

2. Turn the combination lighting switch to the parking light position.

3. Check the illumination of the audio and HVAC switch panel buttons.

Are the buttons illuminated?

YES -

Intermittent failure, the audio and HVAC switch panel is OK at this time. Check for loose or poor connections at the audio and HVAC switch panel.

NO -

Go to step 4.

4. Check the illumination of several other buttons not related to the audio system.

Are the buttons illuminated?

YES -

Go to step 5.

NO -

Troubleshoot the interior lights. Start by checking the No. 6 (7.5 A) fuse in the passenger's under-dash fuse/relay box. If the fuse is OK, check for an open in the wire between the passenger's under-dash fuse/relay box and the related system.

5. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), or press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.

6. Disconnect audio and HVAC switch panel connector A (20P) and gauge control module connector A (32P).

7. Check for continuity between audio and HVAC switch panel connector A (20P) terminal No. 8 and gauge control module connector A (32P) terminal No. 19.





Is there continuity?

YES -

Go to step 8.

NO -

Repair an open in the wire between the gauge control module and the audio and HVAC switch panel.

8. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), or press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode.

9. With the headlight switch on, measure the voltage between audio and HVAC switch panel connector A (20P) terminal No. 10 and body ground.





Is there battery voltage?

YES -

Check the connections at audio and HVAC switch panel connector A (20P). If all connections are OK, replace the audio and HVAC switch panel Audio and HVAC Switch Panel Removal/Installation.

NO -

Repair an open in the wire between the passenger's under-dash fuse/relay box and the audio and HVAC switch panel.
