The HFL system does not recognize all voice commands

NOTE:

- Check the vehicle battery condition first Battery Test.
- Make sure the client's phone is compatible with the Acura HFL system. See www.acura.com/handsfreelink for more information.

1. Connect the HDS to the DLC.

2. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), or press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode.

3. Check for DTCs.

Are there any DTCs indicated?

YES -

Troubleshoot the indicated DTCs.

NO -

Go to step 4.

4. Check if client's concern is duplicated.

Can the client's problem be duplicated?

YES -

- With navigation, go to step 5.
- Without navigation, go to step 6.

NO -

The system is OK at this time. Ask the client to demonstrate the concern. Try to duplicate the concern on a known-good vehicle. If the known-good vehicle has the same concern, it should be a characteristic of the system.

5. Check if the navigation system can recognize voice commands.

Can the voice prompts be recognized?

YES -

Go to step 6.

NO -

Refer to the navigation system troubleshooting Voice Control Does Not Work/Respond.

6. Pair the client's phone to a known-good vehicle (same year and trim), and try to duplicate the concern.

Can you duplicate the concern?

YES -

Call the HFL call center at 888-528-7876, and inquire if there are any known issues for the concern. If there are no known issues, explain to the client this is a system characteristic and cannot be improved at this time.

NO -

- With navigation, substitute a known-good front HFL-navigation-ANC/active sound control microphone Front HFL-Navigation-ANC/Active Sound Control Microphone Removal / Installation, and recheck. If the symptom/indication goes away, replace the original front HFL-navigation-ANC/active sound control microphone Front HFL-Navigation-ANC/Active Sound Control Microphone Removal / Installation. If the symptom/indication is still present, replace the HandsFreeLink control unit Service and Repair.
- Without navigation, substitute a known-good front HFL-ANC/active sound control microphone Front HFL-ANC/Active Sound Control Microphone Removal / Installation, and recheck. If the symptom/indication goes away, replace the original front HFL-ANC/active sound control microphone Front HFL-ANC/Active Sound Control Microphone Removal / Installation. If the symptom/indication is still present, replace the HandsFreeLink control unit Service and Repair.
