Audio System Symptom Troubleshooting - XM radio display is blank and no station information is displayed

XM radio display is blank and no station information is displayed (Canada models with navigation)

NOTE:

- Check the vehicle battery condition first Testing and Inspection.
- Check the connectors for poor connections or loose terminals.

1. Measure the voltage between XM receiver connector A (14P) terminal No. 1 and body ground.





Is there battery voltage?

YES -

Go to step 3.

NO -

Go to step 2.

2. Measure the voltage between audio-navigation unit connector C (14P) terminal No. 1 and body ground.





Is there battery voltage?

YES -

Repair an open or high resistance in the wire between the XM receiver connector A (14P) terminal No. 1 and audio-navigation unit connector C (14P) terminal No. 1.�

NO -

Replace the audio-navigation unit Audio-Navigation Unit Removal/Installation (With Navigation).�

3. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), or press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode.

4. Measure the voltage between XM receiver connector A (14P) terminal No. 11 and body ground.





Is there less than 0.2 V?

YES -

Go to step 5.

NO -

Repair an open or high resistance in the wire between XM receiver connector A (14P) terminal No. 11 and audio-navigation unit connector C (14P) terminal No. 11.�

5. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), or press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.

6. Disconnect audio-navigation unit connector C (14P) and XM receiver connector A (14P).

7. Check for continuity between XM receiver connector A (14P) terminal No. 2 and body ground.





Is there continuity?

YES -

Repair a shot to body ground in the wire between XM receiver connector A (14P) terminal No. 2 and audio-navigation unit connector C (14P) terminal No. 2.�

NO -

Go to step 8.

8. Check for continuity between audio-navigation unit connector C (14P) terminal No. 2 and XM receiver connector A (14P) terminal No. 2.





Is there continuity?

YES -

Go to step 9.

NO -

Repair an open in the wire between audio-navigation unit connector C (14P) terminal No. 2 and XM receiver connector A (14P) terminal No. 2.�

9. Check for continuity between XM receiver connector A (14P) and audio-navigation unit connector C (14P) according to the table.













Is there continuity?

YES -

Go to step 10.

NO -

There is an open in the wire(s) between the audio-navigation unit and the XM receiver. Replace the affected shielded harness.�

10. Disconnect the HandsFreeLink control unit 28P connector.

11. Check for continuity between body ground and audio-navigation unit connector C (14P) according to the table.









Is there continuity?

YES -

There is a short to body ground in the wire(s) between the audio-navigation unit and the XM receiver. Replace the affected shielded harness.�

NO -

Go to step 12.

12. Check for continuity between the terminals of audio-navigation unit connector C (14P) according to the table.









Is there continuity between any of the terminals?

YES -

There is a short in the wires between the audio-navigation unit and the XM receiver. Replace the affected shielded harness.�

NO -

Substitute a known-good audio-navigation unit (including the HDD) Audio-Navigation Unit Removal/Installation (With Navigation), and recheck. If the symptom/indication goes away, replace the original audio-navigation unit Audio-Navigation Unit Removal/Installation (With Navigation). If the symptom/indication is still present, replace the XM receiver XM Receiver Removal/Installation (Without AcuraLink (Except USA Models With Navigation)).�
