DTC Troubleshooting: B12C7

DTC B12C7: Electric Steering Lock Motor Circuit Failure

NOTE: If you are troubleshooting multiple DTCs, be sure to follow the instructions in B-CAN System Diagnosis Test Mode A. Troubleshooting - B-CAN System Diagnosis Test Mode A

1. Clear the DTCs with the HDS.

2. Do this procedure 10 times: Press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF, ACC, ON, and OFF mode.

3. Check for DTCs with the HDS.

Is DTC B12C7 indicated?
YES - Go to step 4.

NO - Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Check for loose or poor connections.


4. Disconnect the engine start/stop switch 10P connector.

5. Check for continuity between body ground and electric steering lock 12P connector terminal No. 12.

Is there continuity?
YES - Go to step 6.

NO - Repair open in the wire or poor ground (G405).






6. Disconnect the electric steering lock 12P connector.

7. Disconnect power control unit connector C (36P).

8. Check for continuity between body ground and electric steering lock 12P connector terminals No. 3 and No. 5 individually.

Is there continuity?
YES - Repair short to ground in the wire.

NO - Go to step 9.






9. Check for continuity between power control unit connector C (36P) terminals No. 31 and No. 32, and electric steering lock 12P connector terminals No. 5 and No. 3 individually.

Is there continuity?
YES - Substitute a known-good power control unit If the symptom goes away, replace the original power control unit. If not, replace the electric steering lock.. Steering Lock Replacement (Without Keyless Access System)

NO - Repair open in the wire.
