Product Update: 2000 NSX Powertrain Control Module
BACKGROUND
During engine warm-up, the MIL may come on with a DTC P1486 (thermostat range/performance problem) stored. During warm-up, the PCM monitors the coolant temperature. If the heater is being used, the coolant may not reach operating temperature fast enough to meet the parameters built into the PCM's software.
CUSTOMER NOTIFICATION
Due to the small number of vehicles involved in this campaign, Acura Client Services will contact the owners directly to inform them that they should have their vehicles repaired.
CORRECTIVE ACTION
Replace the PCM (Powertrain Control Module).

Powertrain Control Module: P/N 37820-PR7-A52
Panel Clip (if needed): P/N 91560-SL0-T00
WARRANTY CLAIM INFORMATION
REPAIR PROCEDURE
1. Move both seats as far forward as they will go. Tilt the seat-backs forward.
2. Remove the left and right rear trim panels (four clips each).
3. Use a trim pad remover to carefully remove the rear upper trim panel. Replace any broken clips.
4. Remove the two mounting screws from the rear center trim panel.
5. Disconnect the six connectors from the PCM.
6. Remove the four PCM mounting bolts. Remove the PCM.
7. Install the new PCM. Reconnect the six connectors.
8. Connect the PGM Tester to the 16P DLC.
9. Turn the ignition switch ON (II). Follow the screen prompts to rewrite the immobilizer code in the PCM.
10. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0). Disconnect the PGM Tester.
11. Turn the ignition switch ON (II). Make sure the immobilizer indicator comes on for about 6 seconds, then goes out. If the indicator starts blinking, you will have to do the rewrite procedure again.
12. Install the interior panels. Move the seats to their normal positions.
13. Center-punch a completion mark above the first character (J) of the engine compartment VIN.
