Shift Cable: Service and Repair

REMOVAL/INSTALLATION
1. Remove the front console.
2. Shift to [N] position, then remove the lock pin from the cable adjuster.





3. Remove the bolts securing the bracket.
4. Remove the bolts securing the shift cable holder, then remove the shift cable cover.

NOTE: To prevent damage to the control lever joint, be sure to remove the bolts securing the shift cable holder before removing the bolts securing the shift cable cover.





5. Remove the lock bolt securing the control lever, then remove the shift cable with the control lever.

NOTE: Take care not to bend the shift cable excessively while removing/installing it.

6. Remove the bolts securing the exhaust pipe B heat shield, then lower the heat shield.





7. Remove the shift cable guide and grommet.
8. Remove the shift cable, then replace it.
9. Install the shift cable in the reverse order of removal.

NOTE:
- Make sure the lock pin is seated securely in the adjuster, when installing it.
- Replace the lock pin if it does not snap over the adjuster securely.
- To prevent damage to the control lever joint, be sure to install the shift cable holder after installing the shift cable cover on the torque converter housing.

10. Check the cable adjustment after installing the shift cable.
