Air Mix Control Motor
Air Mix Control Motor (Part 1 Of 2):
Air Mix Control Motor (Part 2 Of 2):
Self-diagnosis indicator light E comes on: A problem in the air mix control motor circuit.
The air mix control motor regulates the mixture of cool/hot air according to output from the climate control unit.
1. Disconnect the 5P connector from the air mix control motor.
2. Connect battery power to the No. 1 terminal of the air mix control motor and ground the No. 5 terminal; the air mix control motor should run, and stop at MAX HOT. If it doesn't, reverse the connections; the air mix control motor should run, and stop at MAX COOL.
NOTE: If the air mix control motor does not run, remove it, then check the air mix control linkage and doors for smooth movement. If they move smoothly, replace the air mix control motor.
3. Measure the resistance between the No. 2 and No. 3 terminals. It should be approximately 6 K Ohms ± 20%.
4. Measure the resistance between the No. 3 and No. 4 terminals. It should be approx. 1.2 K Ohms ± 20% at MAX HOT and approximately 4.8 K Ohms ± 20% at MAX COOL.
