Radio/Stereo: Service and Repair

NOTE: The original radio has a coded theft protection circuit. Be sure to get the customer's code number before

- disconnecting the battery.
- removing the stereo circuit fuse from the under-hood fuse/relay box
- removing the radio.

After service, reconnect power to the radio and turn it on. When the word "CODE" is displayed, enter the customer's 5-digit code to restore radio operation. This information is NOT contained in the Service Manual.



SRS components are located in this area. Review the SRS component locations, precautions, and procedures in the SRS section before performing repairs or service.


1. Make sure you have the anti-theft code for the radio, then write down the frequencies for the radio's preset buttons.
2. Remove the front console and console panel






3. Remove the five mounting bolts, then remove the audio unit.
4. Install the reverse order of removal.
