RPM Too High When Warm

Check in Order Listed:

^ Engine Control Module
Check Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) action (see Diagnostic Trouble Code Extraction). Is MIL coming on/are codes stored/is light on steady?

^ Idle Air Control Valve (IAC)
Perform IAC Valve tests as shown for Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) 14.

^ Other Idle Controls
Fast Idle Thermo Valve - Perform Fast Idle Thermo Valve test.
Idle Adjusting Screw - Perform inspection/adjustment procedure for Idle Adjusting Screw.
Hoses and Connections - Inspect all hoses and connections.
Power Steering Pressure Switch Signal - Perform test of Power Steering Pressure Switch.

^ Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) Sensor
Perform Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor tests as shown for DTC 6.

^ Air Intake System
Throttle Cable - Inspect for binding throttle cable.
Throttle Body - Inspect for binding throttle body.
